Our missions, the challenges

  • We specialize in consultative democracy
  • We recruit and train teams of at least 4 young active citizens under the age of 30 from all over the world (known as the « ActualiTeam »).
  • Their aim is to provide feedback on existing citizen consultations through the calls for consultation we send out to regional, national and international institutions. In this way, we develop consultative democracy.
  • We promote citizenship at regional, national and international levels.
  • We lobby regional, national and international institutions (UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the UN) to promote commitment and greater participation by civil society in the work of the various institutions.
  • In France, for example, we are drafting a bill to promote civic commitment.

Why do we need it? What’s at stake?

Have you ever heard of a « crisis of democracy »? It’s the term used to describe a loss of trust between citizens and politicians. One marker of a healthy democracy is the level of citizen involvement in public policy. For countries with large populations, there is such a thing as « consultative democracy ». This is the concept whereby public decision-makers draw on the ideas of civil society to carry out their reforms. The challenge is to promote mechanisms for consulting civil society. At regional, national and international levels.

Are you unfamiliar with the existing mechanisms for citizen participation inside institutions? We’ve got a free, quick and easy course just for you!
